Welcome to Handwriting Teacher! I’m thrilled to share a bit about myself and the passion behind this website. My name is Amanda. I hold a master’s degree in education and I am a former teacher with experience in preschool, kindergarten, and first grade. I’m also a proud mother of three, all of whom I had the pleasure of teaching at home.
In 1997, I created A to Z Teacher Stuff, a popular website for teachers. It was on this platform that I introduced a custom name worksheet maker. However, I noticed these pages were often being used by younger children who were not yet ready for the worksheets intended for older students. This realization sparked the idea to develop a more comprehensive resource, tailored to support teachers and parents in guiding children at any skill level.
I also created personalized name books which further confirmed the demand for customizable handwriting resources. Teachers and parents wanted the ability to customize their own books, which is why I’ve included this feature at Handwriting Teacher.
Handwriting often doesn’t get the attention it deserves in early education, yet it plays a crucial role in children’s literacy development. From the very first day of kindergarten, I made it a priority to teach children how to write, understanding that writing and reading progress hand in hand. Proper letter formation is vital, as it allows children to focus on their ideas rather than the mechanics of writing. When letter formation becomes second nature, children can express themselves more freely and confidently.
This website aims to provide proper letter formation techniques and explicit instruction on the path of motion. Whether your child is just learning to put pencil to paper or needs to refine their handwriting for neatness and legibility, this website offers suggestions and resources for all stages.
Thank you for joining me on this journey to make handwriting an integral and enjoyable part of every child’s literacy development. Together, we can ensure that children practice proper letter formation from the start, making writing a natural and effortless skill.
